Welcome Bookies!

I would like to extend a special invitation to the Peck Bookies to make an entry on the blog! I understand that some of you have been reading some really wonderful books, and short stories as well and it would be great to share this with everyone! Your entry should include the title of the book/story, your thoughts on why you did or did not like it, would you recommend the book/story to others and who would you recommend it too (age level, reading interest, etc.). All entries will be emailed to me, and I will do my best to have all comments posted by the end of the day they were written.

If we have the books that you recommend in the library I will put them on display so folks can check them out!

Recently I read Fallen Angels. This book is about an 18-year-old who enters the Vietnam War. He does this because back at his home town in New York City, he needs some money to support his family. Throughout the book he makes good friends and suffers the hardships of war. I would really recommend this book to anyone who likes historical fiction.

"Ranger's Apprentice 3. The Icebound Land," is a great follow-up to the previous books in the series. Will and Evanlyn are lost and have to survive the winter. Horace, an apprentice warrior, and Halt, a senior ranger, are on a quest to find them. But on the way, they are faced with many problems, such as the Black Knight, a cruel man known as Lord Deparnieux. John Flanagan is a great author and his intriguing use of language will capture you!

This is a great book that is in the series Ranger's Apprentice. This book is by John Flanagan. This book is about Will and Evanlyn becoming reunited with Halt and Horace. But it is not to last; they are joined by Erak and find out that the warriors of the eastern steppes are going to attack them. Halt has to join the Skandians and stop the warriors.

During Bookies we read a selection of horror stories from Horowitz Horror, by Anthony Horowitz. Anthony Horowitz also wrote the Alex Rider series. His stories are very creative and shocking. He does an amazing job of keeping the story interesting and horrifying. One of the stories is about a young girl that has a horrible dream. In another story a girl goes insane thinking her bathtub is out to kill her. There are many other horrifying stories contained within its pages.
